#100 You make me a better person
We can’t imagine Dad being anything other than the amazing father he already is, but he says he’s only like that because of you. So we deleted his note (which was stupid and soppy and just embarrassing) to write our own.
A: My whole life has been filled with nothing but love. I got two dads who would do anything for me and I have so many memories of trips to the park and ice cream and being held up on your shoulders so that I could see. When I got scared of Mickey Mouse you held my hand and you didn’t let me hide but you didn’t belittle my worries either. You taught me how to be strong and independent and to stand up for what was right. You helped me start a PFLAG chapter at each school I’ve been to and I know that you don’t want me to go away next year, just like Dad. You are my dad, you always have been. When people say I don’t look like you, or they try to make out that just because it wasn’t you and Mom that you’re not my “real” dad? Well, you know what happens. And that will always happen whenever anyone tells me that you’re not part of this family, that you’re not my dad.
C: Sadly I do look like you. I want a refund. But I’d not change you for anything. You and Dad are the best parents any kid could have. We may joke and make retching sounds when we catch you guys kissing, but it’s actually kinda awesome. Soppy, but awesome. If Dad says he’s a better person because of you then you are responsible for so much awesome it’s unreal. It’s weird to think that this life we have wouldn’t exist if you and Dad hadn’t stuck it out through some really tough times. That alone shows how much you two love each other, and how much love you have shown us while we were growing up. We have the best parents.
